Ignoring Custom Thumbnails

Last Updated: Dec 22, 2014 09:41AM PST
LiveWhale lets you specify thumbnails for images. This way you can focus on somebody's face if it's a larger photo, or make sure a portrait-style headshot doesn't become a picture of the person’s neck when cropped to a square.

However, sometimes you want non-square thumbnails or total control over output, even when a thumbnail has been applied. In these cases— when you know you don’t want a square thumbnail or a thumbnail downsized to the thumbnail set— you need to tell LiveWhale to ignore the cropped thumbnail. Otherwise it will make the thumbnail out of the set square thumb instead of out of the whole image. You may also choose to pair the use of this setting with images that have a ratio that reflects exactly (or nearly so) the same as your output.
